Wende Bowen, Texas Book Company

This year’s Spirit Award was given to Wende Bowen, manager of the Texas A&M Commerce Campus Store. Wende has been with TBC for almost 20 years, serving in every store position within the store, before being promoted to manager 2 years ago. Wende has excelled in every position she has held.

Wende’s nomination for this award came with phrases like: always willing to help, is such a positive person, creates a collaborative work environment, is a team player and a nurturing individual.

Wende consistently says yes when asked to assist at new store transitions, train others that we send to her store, pilot new initiatives, assist with TBCU and numerous other requests. Wende truly embodies the traits of what the Spirit Award was designed to recognize.

Wende has been married to her husband John for 33 years. They have a daughter Sierra who lives in Hope Mills NC and a son John who lives in Greenville Texas and will soon make Wende a grandmother. In her spare time, Wende enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

The Elaine T. Brown Spirit Award is given by TBC executive leadership in honor of Elaine T. Brown, a long-time valued TBC bookstore manager who always went above and beyond expectation, and was the highest example of servant leadership.
